On Our Radar: The Newest Retail Destinations in San Francisco & Marin — Summer 2026

Global brands, cult favorites, and first-to-market concepts are all planting flags in San Francisco and Marin this summer, from multi-million-dollar flagships to buzzy boutique debuts. These aren't just new stores; they're signals of where momentum is building and who's betting big on our communities. Here are eight we think you should know about.

SAN FRANCISCO

BAPE (A Bathing Ape)
The iconic Japanese streetwear brand opened its first San Francisco store this June at 216 Stockton Street in Union Square, and the lines around the block said it all. Three stories of apparel, accessories, and exclusive drops in the former Dior Men's space, bringing serious energy back to the square.

Chanel
Chanel purchased the four-story building at 340 Post Street for $63 million and is converting it into a major West Coast flagship. Williams-Sonoma closed its longtime store in January 2026, and Chanel is now transforming the 20,000-square-foot space into a multi-floor showcase. An opening is anticipated as early as late 2026.

Uniqlo
The Japanese retailer is returning to downtown San Francisco with a new flagship at 801 Market Street, taking over the former Old Navy space. It's Uniqlo's first flagship outside New York City and a major vote of confidence in the Market Street corridor. Expected to open late 2026.

T&T Supermarket
Canada's largest Asian grocer is bringing its first San Francisco location to 2675 Geary Boulevard at the former Best Buy space in San Francisco City Center. Think Peking duck counters, a 150-item bakery, sushi bars, and a massive selection of specialty Asian groceries. Opening winter 2026.

MARIN

Varley
The premium contemporary women's brand known for elevated activewear and everyday staples is opening its first Marin location at Marin Country Mart in Larkspur this July. It's only the brand's third California store, joining Newport Beach and an upcoming Brentwood location.

On
The Swiss high-performance running brand is opening a dedicated boutique at The Village at Corte Madera, a natural fit for Marin's outdoor-focused community. Technical footwear, apparel, and accessories in a standalone space. Opening 2026.

Mejuri
The modern fine jewelry brand known for everyday 14k gold and ethically sourced pieces recently opened at The Village at Corte Madera earlier this year. A sleek, browsable shop for stackable rings, layered necklaces, and accessible luxury.

SKIMS
Kim Kardashian's loungewear and shapewear brand just opened its first Marin location at The Village at Corte Madera this summer. The brand's signature fits, fabrics, and cult following have arrived in the North Bay, and it's already drawing crowds.

New stores don't just fill spaces, they reshape how a neighborhood feels, who it attracts, and what it's becoming. Whether it's a global flagship or a first-to-market boutique, retail momentum tells a story about a community's trajectory. The Binnings Team tracks these shifts every day, because where people want to shop is often where they want to live.
