My brain is full!
I just returned from three jam-packed days in NYC with PhD mathematicians, quant researchers, and legendary Wall Street investors, traders, and technical analysts in a small, intimate setting.
Definitely outside my wheelhouse, but that was the point.
We went deep on reality’s structure. The fractal nature of human behavior, markets, and the mysterious forces that shape them. Whether it’s stocks, bonds, commodities, or real estate, it’s all hooked into the same plumbing system — and markets are downstream from much greater energies.
My favorite part was our discussion and use of forecasting tools. While no one can predict the future, we can certainly assess probabilities, and that at least helps with positioning. Expect the Prediction section of our quarterly newsletter, The Edge, to level up.
Equally fascinating were our philosophical discussions on topics such as free will vs determinism, simulation theory, and esoteric topics such as spectral analysis and Fourier transforms.
Incredibly sharp minds in the room, including a new friend from NASA who writes code for the International Space Station! I was just lucky to be in the presence of these folks.
Returning home, I bring a more holistic view of the cosmos, humanity, and markets, and can’t wait to put my newfound knowledge to good use — both for our clients and our family 🤓
