Summer 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting stretches for dining in San Francisco and Marin in recent memory. Michelin-starred chefs expanding into new neighborhoods, beloved local names planting second flags, and heavy-hitters taking over iconic spaces—there's a lot to look forward to. Here are eight spots we're keeping our eye on.
Lucania The team behind A16 is opening a southern Italian restaurant in the Ferry Building's former MarketBar space this summer. Wood-fired pizzas, handmade pastas, and a seafood-forward menu—all anchored by a 140-seat outdoor piazza along the Embarcadero.
ㅤ
Hayati Restaurateur Kaïs Bouzidi—the force behind Sens, Barcha, and Bon Délire—is bringing a modern Mediterranean restaurant to the Ferry Building's former Boulettes Larder space this summer. Expect refined street food traditions with a seasonal, ingredient-driven approach.
ㅤ
The Cake Shop by Butter & Crumble The fan-favorite North Beach bakery known for out-the-door lines and creative croissants is opening a dedicated cake shop at 301 Union Street this summer. Layered crumble cakes, buttercream creations, pastries, and espresso in a playful new space.
ㅤ
Hi Neighbor Hospitality Group The award-winning team behind Trestle, The Vault Steakhouse, and Michelin one-star 7 Adams is bringing their most ambitious project yet to 185 Berry Street—an indoor-outdoor restaurant along Mission Creek Channel, steps from Oracle Park. Expected to open fall 2026.
Maison Nico Michelin-starred chef Nicolas Delaroque is expanding his beloved Jackson Square French bakery and épicerie to downtown San Anselmo this summer. Signature croissants, the famed pistachio Paris-Brest, and pâté en croûte, plus new baguettes and an ice cream program.
ㅤ
Tu Tap Chef Justine Kelly, with 18 years at The Slanted Door, teams up with Bill Upson of Real Restaurants Group to bring elevated Vietnamese cuisine to San Anselmo this summer. The redesigned former Kientz Hall space features an open kitchen and a rooftop bar with Mount Tam views.
ㅤ
Feerma Borhen Hammami, who previously earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for his San Francisco restaurant Berber, is opening a modern Afro-Mediterranean grill and bar in downtown Larkspur. While the full restaurant takes shape, the Feerma Love coffee cart is already serving specialty pastries and small-batch coffee outside.
ㅤ
M.H. Bread and Butter The popular San Anselmo bakery is expanding to Fourth Street in San Rafael, taking over the former Crepevine space. A trusted local favorite bringing its artisan breads, pastries, and sandwiches to downtown San Rafael later this year.
New restaurants don't just mean new menus—they signal where momentum is building and where people want to be. That's something we pay attention to every day. Want to know what's happening in your neighborhood? The Binnings Team is always here to talk about it.
